You can never have too much chocolate, only too little caramel. Yep, that’s what we thought, and out of it came the organic Veganz Caramel Choc Bar: The vegan chocolate bar made with delicious almond creme, crunchy caramel pieces and a most delicate dark chocolate.
Too much commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability? No such thing. There is, however, too little transparency, especially in the food sector and we want to change that! Which is why the Veganz Caramel Choc Bar carries this image on the outside of its package, the so-called eco balance. Broken down into four categories, each one telling you how sustainable the vegan chocolate bar is. Why are we going through all this effort? Transparency and environmental protection are very important to us: You have all the facts you need and at the same time, we have the chance to get the most out of our products.
Caramel and chocolate – together forever
Yeah, okay. This combination is really unbeatable. But our organic Veganz Caramel Choc Bar does a lot more than just taste good. Since it’s a purely plant-based product, the delicacy protects all living beings – whether they wear fur or feathers. In addition, the vegan chocolate bar prevents rainforest deforestation because neither soy nor palm oil are used. What else do we think is great? The low carbon footprint of its ingredients. For these categories it gets three stars – yes!
Less caramel? No. Less chocolate? Oh, please no. But it’s exactly these two ingredients that are responsible for the negative rating in regards to water. Sure, the Veganz Caramel Choc Bar is vegan and certified organic – which is already good for the environment – however, because it contains cocoa paste, cocoa butter and almonds, it has a relatively high water use footprint. This is because in order for them to grow they require some of that valuable blue gold, and the local irrigation system is not yet sufficiently developed.
How can our bar show its best chocolate side in the future? Hm, we don’t really know yet. Maybe with our assistance on site – for example in providing water treatment plants – or using ingredients from a different country. No matter what the solution it is – the know-how from today flows into the products of tomorrow.
Cane sugar*, cocoa butter*, cocoa mass*, inulin*, sunflower oil*, almonds* (6,5%), dried rice glucose syrup*, caramel pieces* (4,5%) (cane sugar*, fructose*), emulsifier: sunflower lecithin*; natural flavouring. Cocoa solids: 55% minimum in the couverture chocolate.
A delicate creme filling made with almonds, crunchy caramel pieces and a crispy dark chocolate coating made with 55% cocoa – reason enough to be completely content. But that’s not enough for you, is it? And it doesn’t have to be. How about this: The vegan chocolate bar is made with natural ingredients and is certified organic, contains no artificial additives, palm oil or soy. I think that’s enough, don’t you?

Afraid so. But there’s one thing you can be sure of, we don’t like it either. Unfortunately, we have to rely on polypropylene film, which makes sure that our candy bars are optimally protected, retain their aroma and shape and stay fresh for you.
As you can see, there are a few issues making plastic wrapping unavoidable and why it’s difficult to find the best solution. But indeed, as a sustainable and vegan brand, we see it as our duty to look for the most environmentally friendly alternatives – because in reality, ingredients and packaging go hand in hand. We’re not perfect, but we are always keeping our eyes and ears open.
